Amerigroup Foundation Supports Communities in New Mexico
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Monday, October 1, 2012) – The Amerigroup Foundation announced its commitment to New Mexico communities, providing more than $110,000 in support since 2008, and contributing to 18 organizations this year.
“We are deeply committed to serving New Mexico and thankful the Foundation has been able to contribute so generously,” said Jeanine Davis, chief operating officer, Amerigroup New Mexico. “In addition to the Foundation’s financial contributions, I am proud of the New Mexico associates who have given their time to volunteer with these organizations.”
The Amerigroup Foundation’s 2012 contribution to the Child Crisis Center (CCC) of Southern New Mexico supported more than 60 at-risk children and their families. The organization’s services range from providing shelter to homeless families to helping mothers-in-need with the proper facilities to heal addiction.
"The Foundation’s support has allowed the CCC to provide temporary, safe emergency homes for children of parents who are in crisis, preventing child abuse and neglect,” said Bernadine Dallago, director of CCC. “We would not be able to reach these families if it were not for the caring outreach and support from partners like the Amerigroup Foundation."
The Foundation also provided funding to the Assistance Dogs of the West, enhancing vocational and educational programs — teaching students to train dogs to help people with disabilities.
“This donation changed many lives for the better, providing service dogs to help provide independent living to those who truly need help,” said Linda Milanesi, executive director, Assistance Dogs of the West. “We thank Amerigroup on many levels for recognizing our work and for supporting our continued success."
