NCQA Recognizes Two Amerigroup Georgia Employees as PCMH Experts
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Tuesday, June 18, 2013) – Amerigroup, a wholly owned subsidiary of WellPoint, Inc., announced the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recognized two employees from its Georgia health plan as Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Certified Content Experts.
Amerigroup Georgia Medical Practice Consultant, Health Care Management Services Operations, Jeryl Williams; and Amerigroup Georgia Director of Health Plan Operations Mike Smith were among the six individuals in Georgia to be certified. PCMH Certified Content Experts complete two NCQA educational seminars, pass a comprehensive exam and commit to continuous learning and recertification to maintain the credential.
"Amerigroup is one of the few managed care organizations in Georgia offering PCMH consultation to the provider network," said Amerigroup Georgia Chief Executive Officer Dr. Tunde Sotunde. "I am proud of the efforts and dedication of Jeryl and Mike as they have gone above and beyond to ensure our members have the highest level of patient-centered quality care in Georgia."
Amerigroup Georgia began PCMH work with White’s Pediatrics in 2011, and the practice is currently recognized by NCQA PCMH 2011 Standards at the highest achievable level (Level 3). White’s Pediatrics Chief Compliance Officer April White also received NCQA PCMH Certification.
"We are thrilled to be the first practice in Georgia to receive Level 3 Recognition under NCQA’s PCMH 2011 Standards," said White’s Pediatrics Chief Executive Officer Dr. Jeffeory White. "Becoming a PCMH has transformed our practice improving patient care and satisfaction, strengthening ties to our community, and teaching us how to measure and improve all of the processes in our practice. This achievement would not have been possible without Amerigroup’s PCMH experts Mike Smith and Jeryl Williams, who offered invaluable guidance and encouragement during the entire process."
