Amerigroup Foundation Presents Grant to Rx Partnership in Virginia

Donation Benefits the Bradley Free Clinic

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Thursday, December 15, 2011) – The Amerigroup Foundation announced today that it has provided a $2,500 grant to the Rx Partnership to benefit the Bradley Free Clinic in Roanoke, Va.

The Rx Partnership is an organization that works to provide uninsured Virginians with access to medication through community-based clinics by serving as a broker to access and distribute free bulk prescription medications. Rx Partnership’s unique bulk replacement method results in an efficient and cost-effective process that delivers more medications to a greater number of individuals in need. More than $50 million in free medication has been provided to more than 35,500 uninsured Virginians since the program began in 2002.

Amy Yarcich, executive director of Rx Partnership remarked, “Through their generous contribution, Amerigroup is helping to support the delivery of medication to uninsured patients at the Bradley Free Clinic and 19 other community-based clinics around the state that rely on Rx Partnership to help its most vulnerable patients receive the vital medication they need to treat a variety of chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes and hypertension.”

The Amerigroup Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to the Rx Partnership earlier this year. The grant was dispersed in quarterly installments to support increased access to prescription drugs at four free clinics in Virginia. The Bradley Free Clinic is the recipient of the fourth quarterly installment.

“We are fortunate that Amerigroup has chosen to support this program and our clinic, which makes caring for our patients possible,” said Estelle Avner, executive director of the Bradley Free Clinic.

“The Rx Partnership works tirelessly to improve access to medication for the uninsured,” said John E. Littel, chairman of the Amerigroup Foundation. “We are very pleased that the Foundation was able to play a role in supporting this important mission.”
